Say "Bonjour" to Elizabeth in the French NSS team!
What do you think of eTwinning?
Of course I’m a bit biased, but honestly, eTwinning a wonderful program. It’s so handy for teachers, even those who aren’t into ICT: they can get in touch with other European teachers, set up and run projects with their students all from the same online platform. In the projects that we see, the students are so excited to be in touch with classes from other countries and the teachers are so pleased to see their pupils motivated and to be teaching differently. eTwinning projects allow teachers to implement project-based learning and integrate ICT skills in a natural, useful way. A few of our teachers have fully integrated their curriculum into their eTwinning projects! Plus, all of this is happening in a secure online environment with the pedagogical and technical support of the National Support Services, which really sets it apart from other online tools.
Why do French teachers want to pair up with UK teachers?
French teachers of English are very interested in working with UK teachers because it’s an opportunity to get their pupils in touch with native speakers. Being able to work on themes related to British culture and history is another big draw for teachers.
What is your favourite UK/FR project
The project “Le livre à deux voix” is a collaborative writing project in a primary class run by one of our ambassadors, Isabelle Hameau, and her Scottish partner. Each class wrote successive chapters about the adventures of the hero, Nancy, in their native language. The teachers translated the partner class’s work, the pupils illustrated the new chapter, then wrote the next chapter to send back to the partners. Isabelle has also run “Cook it, ICT it” and “Toy Visit” with UK partners. You can see all three project presentation on our website (in French).
