Webinar’s will be hosted by the UK & French eTwinning teams and are free of charge.

Please note that we require your commitment on all of the listed scheduled dates, as the program will only work if we have full participation. We cannot risk disappointing our French counterparts by registering anyone who is not able to provide this commitment.

eTwinning and British Council Schools Online @ BETT, London 11-14 Jan 2012

Two British Council programmes - 'Schools Online' and 'eTwinning', were represented this month at the UK's largest education fair; the annual British Educational Training and Technology Show (BETT) at the Olympia in London.  The event attracted over 30,000 visitors (Bettshow, 2012) across four days,  proving that this show is a great testament to an exhilarating sector!  For the first time eTwinning Europe-wide had a stand of its own, where there was a packed programme of activities, including case studies from current eTwinners and demonstrations of the platform.    Experienced eTwinning teachers from across Europe were invited to present inspiring projects to other visiting teachers from across Europe, to help raise awareness of the eTwinning Programme as a free online community for over 150,000 teachers.  There were Representatives from the UK and 13 other countries at the eTwinning stand, which included staff from the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) and experts from the eTwinning Central Support and National Support Services.  The high footfall at both the eTwinning and Schools Online stands highlighted more than ever the benefits of getting practical guidance on the latest educational programmes and resources available.

FREE eTwinning Professional Development Events: Germany 9–11 march / Malta 9–11 march 2012

 Do you teach 12-16 year old students? Are you interested in working with a team of colleagues from your school and other schools in Europe? Do you think that media education should be integrated into subjects, not isolated? Are you convinced that students benefit from cross-curricular learning?  If so, the UK eTwinning team is currently looking for teachers to come and meet other teachers from the eTwinning community to set up a collaborative eTwinning project in either:

GERMANY:  Our preference is to send a head teacher plus one other teacher (French or German speaking) from the same school.  We are limited to 8 participants for this event - 2 teachers per school.

OR 

MALTA:  Our preference is to send one teacher from the same school, consisting of 5 different schools.  We are limited to 5 participants for this event.

We are able to cover all travel, accommodation and meal expenses for this event, as well as the participation fee, however we cannot provide supply cover.

Deadline 16 January 2012: Comenius In-Service training

Want to undertake a professional development course, job shadow a colleague or attend a conference or seminar in any of the other 32 participating Comenius countries? A Comenius in-service training grant can help!

An in-service training grant can be used for one of three core activities:

Undertaking a professional development activity in another Comenius Country.

• Choose from a range of activities, including structured professional development courses, foreign language methodology courses and foreign language courses.

Job shadowing a colleague in another Comenius Country

• Job shadow a European colleague for a period of one working day to six weeks. The placement must relate to your professional responsibilities in the UK.

Attending a European conference or seminar in another Comenius Country.

• Attend a conference or seminar organised by a representative European association or network active in the field of school education.

In-service training grants are open to:

• school or college staff (either teaching or non-teaching staff) in the UK
• local authority staff working in school education in the UK
• unemployed teachers re-entering the profession in the UK
• staff in another specific area of child education in the UK

 - To demonstrate best practice examples of cross curricular projects

- To find a partner school and develop a project or projects

- To develop a strategy for 'eTwinning teams' at your school

- To demonstrate multi-media software tools that you can use in your eTwinning projects

GERMANY:  Our preference is to send a head teacher plus one other teacher (French or German speaking) from the same school.  We are limited to 6 participants for this event - 2 teachers per school.  Participants will be from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and the UK

OR

MALTA:  Our preference is to send one teacher from the same school, consisting of 5 different schools.  We are limited to 5 participants for this event.  Participants will be from the UK, Cyprus, Malta and Denmark.

We are able to cover all travel, accommodation and meal expenses for this event, as well as the participation fee, however we cannot provide supply cover.
