eTwinning and British Council Schools Online @ BETT, London 11-14 Jan 2012

Two British Council programmes - 'Schools Online' and 'eTwinning', were represented this month at the UK's largest education fair; the annual British Educational Training and Technology Show (BETT) at the Olympia in London.  The event attracted over 30,000 visitors (Bettshow, 2012) across four days,  proving that this show is a great testament to an exhilarating sector!  For the first time eTwinning Europe-wide had a stand of its own, where there was a packed programme of activities, including case studies from current eTwinners and demonstrations of the platform.    Experienced eTwinning teachers from across Europe were invited to present inspiring projects to other visiting teachers from across Europe, to help raise awareness of the eTwinning Programme as a free online community for over 150,000 teachers.  There were Representatives from the UK and 13 other countries at the eTwinning stand, which included staff from the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) and experts from the eTwinning Central Support and National Support Services.  The high footfall at both the eTwinning and Schools Online stands highlighted more than ever the benefits of getting practical guidance on the latest educational programmes and resources available.
