The eTwinning team will be holding a workshop in Basildon, Essex on the 30th of April 2009. This workshop has been offered to all schools in the Essex districts of Basildon, Castle Point, Rochford and Brentwood, as well as schools in the Unitary Authority areas of Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea.
Although the workshop is almost full already, we do have a limited number of places available. Also, we are hoping to host another full-day workshop later in the year for other schools in Essex and the East of England. If you are interested in this or any other workshop, please get in touch with the eTwinning team at etwinning@britishcouncil.org or, more specifically for the East of England you can contact michael.odonnabhain@britishcouncil.org

The building is St Martin's bell tower, a unique free-standing facetted glass and steel tower from the original concept by Douglas Galloway RIBO, comprising over 300sq m glass as a project to mark the new millennium. Opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 12th March 1999
The tower is an 85 foot octagonal spire of neo-gothic design. It houses six historic bells from the redundant church of St. Nicholas in Colchester, together with two new bells.
The Tenor bell was cast in 1441, and was the first bell ever to be cast by a woman (Joanne Hille). Work first started in 1998, with the hole being dug by Stirling Moss OBE in 1998.
All information about this tower was taken from Basildon council's website.
